What does a waxing treatment with Shine Bright involve?
Whether you are new to waxing or a regular, the area to be treated will always be assessed for safety and suitability of treatment prior to being cleansed and prepared for wax application. During your wax, dependent on the area treated, I may ask you to stretch a few areas of the skin to assist in ease of hair removal.
Ladies - For intimate waxing, I will ensure your comfort at all times. If you have not had an intimate wax before, expect to be in a butterfly position (feet together, knees apart; like when you get examined) to enable me to remove the hair from the groin, underneath, and labia (depending on your chosen wax). If you are having hair removed from between the buttocks, then also on your side in a foetal position. Please note, I currently choose not offer intimate waxing to men.
You will also receive a free Dadi Scrub with your first Waxing treatment.

What should I expect after a waxing treatment?
Initially, you may experience temporary redness and minor irritation for a day or two; this is a natural responce by your bodys' "defence" system. You may also experience an itchiness as the hair grows out. Proper post-wax care can help with this.
Hair grows in stages, and never at the same stage. It may take 3-4 waxing sessions to achieve smooth skin. Avoid shaving between waxes, as this disrupts the cycle of removing the root from the follicle. If you are new to waxing and have a special occasion to attend or going on holiday, I recommend being waxed 4-6 weeks before the occasion to see how your skin reacts. If everything is fine, reschedule another wax around 3-5 days before the event.
How often should I get waxed?
Every 4-6 weeks. Regular waxing is essential. The skin will become less sensitive and in time, the hair follicle will have less of a grip on the hair to be waxed and will come out easier. Some people may experience less hair growth over time.
Does waxing cause ingrowing hairs?
Ingrowing hairs are possible.
There are two main factors in causing ingrowing hairs:
Once an area has been waxed and hair removed at the root from the follicle, the follicle is open.
The skins natural "healing" process is to harden over the waxed area (although the skin does not necessarily feel hard to touch).
The bikini, lip and underarms are where we predominantly perspire. Perspiration/moisture causes bacteria to grow, so post-wax care and hygiene is particularly important. Gently exfoliate the area 2-3 times a week. Begin doing so 2-3 days after your waxing treatment. Tea tree and lavender oil will also help to prevent irritation with their antimicrobial and antibacterial properties.
A "clean up" of any hairs outside of the bikini line and groin area.
Not underneath, labia or between the buttocks.
An extended clean up of the bikini line.
Not underneath, labia or between the buttocks.
High Bikini, plus hair between the buttocks removed.
Not underneath or labia.
All off, apart from a "landing strip" or patch. Underneath, labia and between the buttocks, removed
Totally bare. Front, underneath, labia and between the buttocks, removed
PRE Wax Care
To achieve the best results for your wax, your hair should ideally be between 1/4 inch (6mm) - 1/2 inch (12mm). If possible and safe to do so, please do trim prior to your appointment if the hair is longer. Once the hair becomes finer it can be waxed at a shorter length.
Please ensure the areas to be waxed are clean before arriving to your appointment.
Avoid intense heat treatments (saunas, sunbathing) 48 hours prior to your appointment.
Gently exfoliate the area 2-3 days prior to treatment.
POST Wax Care - First 48 hours
Avoid heavy exercise that increases perspiration and chaffing.
Avoid using exfoliating and fragranced products as these can increase any irritation.
Avoid direct sun exposure and sun-beds, as well as excessive heat or tight clothing, this can increase irritation and inflammation.
Avoid touch the area and using deodorants as this can result in irritation and clogging the open follicles.
POST Wax Care - After 48 hours
Regularly, gently exfoliate with a scrub, loofah or exfoliating glove to help keep skin soft and prevent ingrown hairs.
Use an SPF30 or greater to any exposed treatment areas. The waxing treatment itself exfoliates the skin as well as removing hair, therefore your skin will be more prone to sunburn in the days following your treatment.
Are there any reasons why I could NOT have a waxing treatment?
Some topical exfoliants such as retinol and hydroquinone, and blood-thinning medications, can make the skin more sensitive and increase the likelihood of irritation or other complications. Please check with your doctor or dermatologist if you are unsure whether you should be waxed while using these types of medications and products.
